Don't Look Up - Make Indirect Eclipse Viewing Fun Instead
Don't fret about eclipse glass fakery
I know you’ve been indundated with eclipse news and posts so this is just a quick plea.
It's deeply worrisome that there are fake eclipse glasses out there. Here's the American Astronomical Society release. Given that the vast majority of those watching today won’t be in the totality zone - where threre are two or three minutes when it IS safe to look up, I urge folks to focus on indirect viewing options.
Please, particularly if with kids, you can make this fun by trying a variant of what I did in 2017 in a partial eclipse in the Hudson Valley. It’s stress free and even hilarious. I originally livestreamed this on Facebook way back then so it’s grainy but conveys what to do.
