Watch now | Just in case you missed the live event, here’s my Sustain What conversation with two passionate climate communicators, both with experience in broadcast news media, pursuing distinct strategies via online video.
I am actively working to build a community centered around using stories to help heal our relationship with the natural world and the other beings we share the planet with.
This includes Climate Change of course, but over the course of my 30+ years working on and writing about environmental protection, endangered species, and issues such as:
- The rescue of animals left homeless in due to the war in Ukraine;
- The reintroduction of wolves in Yellowstone;
- The annual slaughter of dolphins at Taiji Cove (Japan);
- The slaughter pipeline for horses;
- Puppy Mills; and
- Factory farming of cattle, chickens, turkeys, pigs, foxes, and goats
I have found that you have to reach people at the personal/heartfelt level before they will even pay attention to you. If Climate Change is not felt directly few people will pay attention (please read "Don't Even Think About It" by George Marshall). We have to find ways to help them see that what hurts one hurts us all.
I personally believe this has to start with education since empathy, respect for and appreciation of differences starts at a young age the brain develops. Like a muscle those abilities have to be used to become part of the adult.
If you'd like to know more about what I'm up to (you may remember me from Song Flight, my program to help Ukrainian kids displaced by the war) stop by Wild Dialogs: https://www.skool.com/wild-dialogs-2031/about
Very true and well said and a good plan going forward!! Sue the networks that lie or belittle the truth of climate change!!
